Ashamed to ask for soldiers,
To guard him along the way,
A dangerous road ahead of him,
A valuable load makes for vulnerable prey!

Yet, Ezra clearly knew,
For he was a ready scribe,
The hand of the Lord was upon him,
He had no need to run and hide!

Before his dangerous journey,
He got upon his knees,
Seeking the Lord for his safety,
There's nothing like true security!

A horse can be prepared,
For the battlefield,
But it's a vain thing for safety,
Compared to the Godly shield!

Ezra 8:22-23
For I was ashamed to requireof the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy in the way: because we had spoken unto the kingsaying, The hand of our God isupon all them for good that seek him; but his power and his wrath is against all them that forsakehim.
So we fastedand besought our God for this: and he was entreated of us.

Ezra 7:6
This Ezra went up from Babylon; and he was a ready scribe in the law of Moses, which the LORD God of Israelhad given: and the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of the LORDhis God upon him.
Prov. 21:31 The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD.

The evening is drawing near,
A savior by their side,
They constrain him with their question,
With us please abide!

Of course, He chose to tarry,
He fed them once again,
There eyes were open to the truth,
He vanished from sight of men

The night is drawing near for us,
The days are darker every day,
Yet with the Saviour  by our side,
We continue to watch and pray

We desire to be fed with His Words,
Lord, fill us with your love!
Eyes that can see Truth
Wise, yet harmless as doves
