No peace for him who went out-
Nor peace for him that came in...
A land filled with vexation-
A world full of sin-

Nations destroying nations,
With cities doing the same!
Know you not your creator?
Call on His Holy Name!

Israel hath long been without God-
No laws or teaching priests
Now King Asa is in charge,
He won't have hands that are weak

He throws out all the idols,
Renews the altar with Holy Fire,
Dethrowns his mother the queen,
God became his whole desire

The ending is a good one,
Thirty five years of rest,
A life focused on other things,
Would not survive this test!

For He is now our peace,
Rooted and grounded in love,
Desiring the fullness of God
And the things which are above
